Sam Betten and Dimity-Lee Duke Dominated the season ender triathlon race of the year


Panglao Island, Bohol– Congratulations to all the participants as the recently held Safeguard for Men 5i50 Triathlon ended.

Finishers and winners alike with over 700 participants and relay team successfully traversed the beautiful tropical towns of Dauis and Panglao in the province of Bohol battling the heat but sustained by the remarkable fervor of hundreds of spectators who lined the roads.

A stellar roster of victors in the Men’s Division headlined by Sam Betten of Australia with a lightning quick 2:01:03 finish time dominated the event. Not far behind him are Michael Murphy of Australia with an impressive time of 2:03:48 and Justin Granger of Australia with an equally inspiring time of 2:12:38.

Sam Betten of Australia also won the men’s professional division of the inaugural Regent 5i50 Triathlon held at Subic Bay, Zambales last June 7, 2015. This is his third race after he finished second when he raced for the first time in the Philippines in Cebu Ironman 70.3 last year.

Prompted to emerge victorious was veteran Dimity-Lee Duke of Australia finished first with a time of 2:13:30 as she led the race from start to finish in the Women’s Division. Not far behind her are Belinda Granger of Australia with a time of 2:19:47 and Monica Torres of Philippines with a time of 2:26:26 who finished second and third respectively.

Seasoned champions who came, saw and conquered the event and joined this year’s Safeguard for Men 5i50 Triathlon winners are seasoned PROs Sam Betten, Michael Murphy, Justin Granger, Mitch Robins, Dimity-Lee Duke , Belinda Granger all from Australia and our very own Filipina PRO Monica Torres also completed the list of champions
