Excitement is running high as November 8, 2015 is just around the corner. Triathlon enthusiasts are looking forward as Safeguard for Men 5i50 Triathlon will hold another record breaking season-ender race.
With numerous triathlon events happening all over the archipelago, Safeguard for Men 5i50 Triathlon will definitely cap off the year’s triathlon race. Tagged as the “tri-cation”, triathletes will experience a perfect race since it will be a triathlon and vacation rolled in one. Set in the beautiful and tropical towns of Panglao and Dauis, in the province of Bohol where the famous chocolate hills and the Philippine Tarsier, world’s second smallest primate, are located, participants will definitely bask on the bounty and beauty of this island as they will traverse 1.5km swim course, 40km bike ride and 10km run. Thus, the total 750 enlisted novice triathletes and the most seasoned and renowned ones from all over the world this year as compared to the 650 participants of last year will get to experience a local version of the world’s largest Olympic distance triathlon series.
Seeing action and vying to be the this year’s Safeguard for Men 5i50 Triathlon Champions are seasoned PROs Sam Betten, Justin Granger, Mitchell Robins, Michael Murphy, Dan Brown, Belinda Granger, Dimity-Lee Duke all from Australia and our very own Filipina PRO Monica Torres. Filipino Elite Triathletes Banjo Norte, Paul Jumamil, August Benedicto, Claire Adorna, Kim Mangrobang, Jenny Guerrero and LC Langit are also all-set to compete.
“Our aim with this event is to encourage even more people to adopt a healthy lifestyle and embrace multisport training and racing. While we recognize that people may have an Ironman or Ironman 70.3 event as a “bucket list” item, we also realize that you need to start somewhere and this event does exactly that.”, says Wilfred Uytengsu, Sunrise Events Inc. president who is a triathlete and will be participating in the race himself.
